Buyers should satisfy themselves that any puppy/adult they may purchase is in good health. It is a sensible precaution to immediately arrange health insurance cover for any puppy/adult purchased.

Buyers should be aware that as from 1st July 2000 all Irish Setters used for breeding should either be hereditarily clear of C.L.A.D. or have been tested negative for C.L.A.D. by a DNA test. By 1st July 2005, to be registered with the Kennel Club, all Irish Setters must be proved clear of C.L.A.D., either hereditarily or by DNA testing.
